I am using this post for a big rant lol, those air wick thingys? Seriously! they are actually evil! how much oil and plastic is used to produce those things and run them just to cover a nasty niff??? Makes me sick and I think they should be banned, especially those ones that run off the mains!
Open a window! it circulates the air in a room enough to keep a room smelling fresh, Also if you have a chimney it will circulate the air in a room TEN times in a day!

I agree, they should ban the ones that
a) Run off the mains
and
b) The disposable ones.
If you step in dog dirt, have you noticed how the smell is there for hours, so why do you need the mains run air fresheners?
One way to naturally de-oderise your room is: cut a lemon in half and sprinkle it with bi-carbinate of soda. This will absorb the smells in your room and leave a lemony scent. Another way is to rub some esential oil, lavenda etc on your radiators, which will heat up the oil and circulate it when the heating is on.
