I hadn’t realised just how much flying and travel contributed to my footprint. I shall have to reconsider my holidaying options in future.
Has anybody else had this experience?

Yes,
I recently decided to go to Ireland by train and ferry instead of going to the Bahamas!! Difficult choice to make, but I don’t know how happy I could have allowed myself to be whilst there , knowing what effect I was having!!
Tough choice I realise though for those used to going abroad, but my parents used to take us all around England as children, so I’ve gotten very used to that.
me and my brothers and sisters(5 of us) have never had a passport so have never flown i think that this is why our footprint carbon and ecoligical are quite low although we make lifestyle choices as well not flying really helps. Also there are so many beautiful places to go to in the U.K
We go to guernsey every year and its beautiful also its close to france so the weather isnt too bad either!!
although saying that i have just done a case study on the company virgin in terms of their transport and they seem to be doing lots and really thinking of ways that they can cut down on their carbon emissions, the best soultion i thought was the fact that they are starting to use lighter paint on their aircracft so that they use less fuel and have installed carbon fibre bins on their planes….its only small but little changes all add up i guess!
