I agree with you completely friendly flower the world has gone nuts,destroying beautiful animals such as the seal for there fur and gorillas for there hands and feet just to make money the list is endless. Mankind has gone to far we need to stop now ,with hope ,love and courage maybe there is time for us to save this precious planet with which we share. We are the cause of all the destruction but we are also its only hope lets not let it down!

i totaly agree that the use of fur is wrong – the poor animals destroyed for someone elses pleasure – to sit as a coat in the back of a wardrobe 11 months a year its not rite.
I wouldnt mind but fur doesnt even look nice – leather is used for shoes and coats as a by product of the meat industry the cattle are not bred for the perpous of ther skin – i have pet chinnchillers and to see them as a coat makes my blood boil – how can we stop this traversty ….??

i agree… i dont like the look of fur but if you do you can get fake. I think leather is ok as the cows are bred for it, and wool coz it does’nt kill the sheep it actully makes them more comfortable.

but animal fur for clothing is horrible, cruel and selfish….most of all!!

WHAT’S THE POINT in animal fur-

it kills the animal which could make a species extinct or endangered and have a knock on effect on the food chain so make other animals (their predators) extinct or endangered!!

it looks horrible!!

you’d probably only wear it once or twice and if you wore it all the time you’d get bad looks from people who are smart and have common sense by hating animal fur!!!

Quick question to you all. Why do you all think fur is vile if its from a cute and cuddly animal like a seal? Isnt it equally vile to wear leather or is it acceptable because a cow isnt cute and cuddly. Yes leather is a bi product of the meat industry wearing it and eating meat will increase your carbon footprint. Its all very well saying what has the world come to killing inocent animals for fur but what has the world come to breeding and killing on mass for food and hides?

Recycler, I agree. The only leather items that I own are from before I became vegetarian – e.g. some shoes & a very old bag. It’s not only my vegetarianism, but my issues with ethicalness & how the animal is treated, too. Has anyone watched Blood, Sweat & Luxuries on BBC 3? There was an episode about leather – it was horrifying. I won’t go into details, but cows are killed alive, and workers are paid badly.
For that reason & many others, I don’t think leather is ok.
I want to be vegan when I’m older (it’s hard right now, I’m 13) because I believe that although you’re not killing the animal by drinking milk or eating cheese/ yoghurt etc, that animal is still going to die & maybe be killed for other meat eaters/leather wearers, so maybe it’s better if it’s not needed at all.

Yeah I watched blood sweat and luxuries. It inspired me to be more careful about what I buy.. I now won’t drink coffee and the leather one was awful. It was so upsetting and not very nice. :/
I only think leather is okay if all the animal is used for a reasonable purpose. But I absolutely do not agree with any other use from any animals, especially those that are endangered, at high risk etc.

Yes, the leather episode was horrific. I’ve not bought leather since I watched that – but you wouldn’t believe how hard it is!

I am a greate lover of fur however I will stop being a great lover of fur now I have read this. Thankyou for your enlightenment.
